Dear Jane,

This is a letter of thanks. No, more than that. This is a letter that I hope inspires you to continue doing what you do because in a sentence – I feel as though I've been given the gift of 10 years in my life. That might sound dramatic, but after my third Pilates class with you I found myself bouncing around the house like a child. The change I felt was so tangible that I soon began to panic at the thought that this might only be a temporary episode of youthful euphoria and I so much needed it to be real. But my follow up classes continue to impress so I find myself compelled to share my good fortune. I want to ensure that the repetitiveness that you might experience in teaching over and over, never masks the fact that every so often someone might come along that will truly have a life changing experience.

I lead an active lifestyle, I have no chronic pain (or so I thought) and I go to the gym often. But I've obviously been carrying around quite a bit of "stiff stress". I'm sure the result of old injuries I sustained in the military some 15 years ago. I truly feel pain and stiffness that I didn't know I had melting away.

I'm sure I am a case study in the possible benefits of Pilates. I look forward to our next class and cannot wait to see what this will mean in my life in the months and years to come. Keep doing what you do!

To the Mil Valley Health Club and Spa,

I wanted to pass on to you a compliment about your Pilates program and Johanna Baumbach.

My back was hurting last week from some heavy lifting I had done. Iwent to my chiropractor for an adjustment and returned a few days later for a check up. I was puzzled when he asked me if I did a lot of exercising. I answered that I did Pilates with Johanna Baumbach at the Mill Valley Health Club & Spa. I then asked him why he asked the question. His reply was, "I have rarely seen anyone recover so fast from a back injury such as yours and it is because your core strength is so strong that you healed so quickly."

I might add that I am 65 years old and have been doing Pilates with Johanna for several years. I often receive compliments on my youthful looks, strength and health. I attribute my fitness to the Pilates Program at the Mill Valley Health Club & Spa and the high quality of its teachers.
